Had an awesome trip with this father/son duo chasing largemouth bass on the Potomac River, and man… they put in work! We didnt even photo all we caught! 
Chatterbaits and plastics were the deal, and Dad was an absolute stick today. He picked up the plastics and chatterbait bite like a natural and stayed locked in all day. But the highlight for me was watching his son get fired up after catching his first largie — that’s the kind of moment you don’t forget.
It was hot out there, but we stayed hydrated, fished hard, laughed a lot, and made some memories that will last a lifetime. I honestly don’t know who had more fun — me or them!
I love these father/son trips because they remind me of fishing with my dad. That’s what KJ’s Outdoor Adventures is all about: catching fish, building confidence, and creating memories on the water. 🎣

Tough bite, one solid bass, and a reminder that real fishing is never guaranteed, just earned

Today was one of those days that separates fishermen from fish catchers!!
We hit the water with snakehead on our mind, and let me tell you — they made us WORK for every opportunity. The bite was tough, the conditions were challenging, and the snakehead just didn’t want to fully cooperate today. We did have a bad contact that got the heart pumping, but we couldn’t seal the deal.
But that’s fishing — and I’m always going to keep it real with y’all.
Every day isn’t a hero picture day. Every trip isn’t 20 fish in the boat. Some days you grind, learn, adjust, and keep casting. That’s what makes this sport so addictive.
And even on a tough snakehead day, we still managed to put a good largemouth bass in the boat! That’s the beauty of fishing these waters — you never know what’s going to show up and make the day special.
I don’t just post the easy days. I post the grind days too, because real fishing has highs, lows, missed chances, big laughs, and memories made either way.
We took this one on the chin, but trust me — KJ’s Outdoor Adventures will be back stronger!

What a great day on the water, couldn't ask for more action! I had the pleasure of taking a father and his daughter Trista out for a 6-hour bottom fishing trip on the Lower Potomac River. We launched from Colonial Beach Boat Ramp in King George, VA for an early summer morning of fishing. The weather was a bit tricky, with partly cloudy skies and some unexpected rain showers, but that didn't dampen our spirits or the fish's appetite. Despite the weatherman's poor forecast, we made the most of our day with Kj's Outdoor Adventures.

With our gear rigged and ready, we set out to explore the salty waters of the Lower Potomac. We employed a mix of bottom fishing, live bait fishing, and trolling techniques to target a variety of species. The fishing was so good that we hardly noticed the occasional sprinkles. Our efforts paid off big time, with a total catch of 84 fish - perfect for a family fish fry! We landed a nice mix including Summer Flounder, White Perch, Croaker, Sand Perch, Spot, and even some Stripers. One of the highlights was catching a keeper Croaker measuring 11.25 inches, which has been tough to find lately. But the real excitement came when Trista had a Striper, easily 20 inches, follow one of her keeper White Perch right up to the boat. That was a sight to see, and I couldn't help but share in her amazement.

Throughout the day, we found that Fishbites Bloodworms in red were the hot ticket for most of our catches. It's always rewarding to see anglers, especially a father-daughter duo, having such success and enjoying their time on the water. Even with the weather not cooperating fully, their positive attitudes and fishing skills made for an incredible day. We wrapped up our trip with smiles all around and a cooler full of fish to show for our efforts.
